CALL FOR PROPOSALS - TALENT PROGRAMME
FIRST LAW STUDENTS WORLD CUP 2024

"Don't skate where the puck is,
but to where it arrives!"
(Wayne Gretzky)

Law is thought and action. The language in which it is written, who writes it and what it is
about, determines its subject matter, its purpose and its validity. It adapts to social
expectations, it shapes social processes, and in every word, every turn of phrase, there is the
intention it seeks to achieve, the force that makes it happen and the effect that makes it
happen.
Those who apply it also shape the law. Applied law also includes the thought of those who
use it every day. Do prominent legal professionals think differently about the law, and how
does the law evolve under their hands? What are the legal institutions that, even if hidden or
even spectacular, can make a major contribution to the country's competitiveness? What are
the competitive objectives that the emerging generation of lawyers considers important?
We invite the Hungarian university community to find out together: law students studying in
Hungarian and foreign PhD students studying in Hungary.
It is in the light of these considerations that the Alliance for Fundamental Rights Foundation
(hereinafter referred to as the Foundation), with the support of the Regulatory Authority for
Regulated Activities, launches its scientific research motivation programme.
The competition aims to identify and present innovative and effective legal institutions and
legal solutions that contribute to the country's economic growth and competitiveness.
Whether it's a specific Hungarian or foreign legal institution, legal regulatory background or
even legal technology, there is room for all proposals, ideas and analyses (whether in the form
of studies or podcasts) that promote and strengthen Hungary's competitiveness.
You can apply for:
- students of Hungarian and foreign law universities who have started their studies and
have not completed them by the application deadline (regardless of the subject and
type of studies)
The competition is also open to any student in active undergraduate or postgraduate study at a
foreign law school.

Deadline and how to apply:
Application deadline: 30 September 2024.
- electronically to info@lawworldcup.com for written material and in Microsoft
Word (.doc or .docx) or OpenDocument (.odt) format for papers;
- for podcasts, via a file-sharing service (e.g. mammut mail, dropbox)
Language of the application: english and/or hungarian
To apply, pre-registration is required at info@lawworldcup.com by 30 July 2024.
To register, please send the completed application form, including the consent form and
the title of the entry.
The documents to fill in are available at lawworldcup.com/.
Up until the day of the Awards Conference, applicants can upload supporting videos and talks
showcasing their legal-scientific communities, which will be rewarded separately.
The "Innovative Community" special prize is awarded by an international jury, based on
audience votes.
Other special professional prizes will be awarded by representatives of the organisations that
donated them.
